Green Open Days FAQ

When are the next Green Open Days?

The dates for 2017 are yet to be released, but previous events have begun from the first week of September.

How do I register my interest?

Just send a quick e-mail to greenopendays@en-form.org.uk saying “I am interested in opening my home on Green Open Day please, send me details.”

If I register my property now am I committed to taking part?

No. Our aim is to encourage as many people as possible to take part, but just showing an interest is great for us as it will help us attract much needed funding. So, if you are interested please register as soon as possible.

Will my property be accepted?

The main point of the project is to encourage ordinary people to see what is possible in ordinary buildings. Whilst we are very pleased to welcome homes that have had major environmental improvements we welcome ordinary homes where even just one improvement has been made.

Where are the Green Open Days?

Throughout Essex. The aim is to have clusters of homes in various areas around Essex open to the public. This ensures that there is still a ‘local feel’ to the event, but we are able to showcase properties over a wider area.

Can I take part on more than one day?

Yes, but bear in mind that more than one day is a big commitment – please speak to us if you are thinking about taking part for longer.

What times do I have to have the property open to the public?

Each host will be able to choose their own Opening Hours between 10am and 6pm with a minimum of 4 hours.

How many visitors am I likely to receive?

This is very variable depending on area and type of environmental improvement you have. Speaking to other projects you can expect between 2 and 40 visitors. Some Superhomes receive up to 80 visitors.

How open is “open”?

You will be able to specify how you want customers to visit you. You can choose to operate a Just turn up system or a booking system. If you are in doubt choose the booking system so that you can control both the number of visitors and the times they can turn up.
