A new Environment hub for Colchester
We, en-form, have recently been able to acquire premises in the centre of Colchester and are busy adding activities to our new environment hub. It is available for local environment groups and projects to use to help make Colchester a more sustainable community.

What is the hub?
Colchester Centre for Learning, Environment and Action for the Future (LEAF) is a community space set up to drive a community-led environmental action plan. Promoting education and solutions for sustainable living and helping us adapt to climate mitigation and adaptation. We are bringing together local environment groups and projects to help residents, businesses and other organisations to find out about sustainable lifestyles and adapt to a changing planet.
Where is the hub?
We are at 27 and 28 Priory Walk, Colchester, CO1 1LG, opposite Sainsburys.
What will be happening at the hub?
We have a range of activities that take place in the hub. We are contacting local groups to build up a calendar of regular and one off events that will help us to live a more sustainable life. We have already hosted a number of meetings and events for local groups. In line with our charitable objectives the hub is open to all environmental groups and all viewpoints. If you are a local group or run an environmental project and are interested in having space at the hub let us know now by filling in this enquiry booking form. Our user agreement can be found here.
Currently we ask for donations to pay for the running costs of the Centre as follows:
£25 per hour for a business or large organisation
£10 per hour for charities and not-for-profit organisations.
We want to encourage a wide a range of activities and groups, especially smaller groups to use the centre so if affordability is an issue for your group, please get in touch to see if we can find an alternative arrangement.
We have the following regular events:
Thursdays 11am till 3pm Hygge Swap Shop where you can swap a whole range of items including clothes, accessories, DVD’s, CD’s and books.
Thursdays 11am till 3pm Sew Eco workshop and fabric sales.
Last Saturday of the month 22am till 12 noon Repair Cafe where you can enquire about repairing electrical goods, bikes and Textiles.
It will also offer the following:
- a recycling collection point for many items not currently collected by the local council. This will include items collected by Terracycle and a whole host of other items. See the local recycling directory.
- an information centre where you will be able to find out about local groups, projects and services.
How can I get involved?
If you want to help us please complete this volunteering form and we will be in touch.
